National Remote Sensing Day - India : 12th Aug

Remote sensing is the acquisition of information about an object or phenomenon without making physical contact with the object by use of satellites or aircrafts. Remote sensing is used in numerous fields, including geography, land surveying, earth science disciplines, military, intelligence, commercial, economic, planning, and humanitarian applications.

The August 12th - Birthday of Indian Scientist who is also known as the father of India's space programme Dr. Vikram A Sarabhai, is celebrated as the
"National Remote Sensing Day" 
by Indian Society of Remote Sensing (ISRS), Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Punjab Remote Sensing Centre (PRSC) & others.

To celebrate this day ISRO & ISRS has organized a "National Workshop - Popularisation of Remote Sensing based Maps & Geospatial information" on 11th August 2017 starting from 02:00 PM - 05:30 PM (IST)
